Chiropractic techniques.

Modern medicine has seen an explosion of new tools, techniques, and approaches over the past century or so -- and the world of chiropractic care is no exception. Different chiropractic techniques can prove especially suitable for the treatment of specific health and wellness challenges. Here at Driver Chiropractic, we choose the right technique for the right situation, just as a surgeon might choose a specific instrument for a particular procedure. Take a look at the wide range of techniques we can provide and the individual benefits they offer.

Diversified Technique

The Diversified Technique, which works well for a variety of conditions, represents the most traditional form of chiropractic care and the one most people associate with the profession. A typical Diversified treatment features manual adjustments in which the chiropractor administers high-velocity, low-amplitude thrusts to specific joints in need of correction.

Activator Method

The Activator Method can prove just as useful for spinal adjustments as the Diversified Technique, with a couple of extra advantages. In this technique, the chiropractor uses a spring-loaded instrument called an Activator to perform the adjustments, as opposed to relying solely on manual strength. This instrument can administer extremely gentle, controlled, precise adjustments at such high speeds that the muscles have no time to tense up and resist them

Extremity Adjusting

Chiropractic techniques can treat more than just the spinal joints. Chiropractors trained in extremity adjusting can correct alignment problems in the finger, wrist, ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, and elbow joints. These adjustments can restore the full range of motion to the affected extremities while also relieving pain, stiffness, and other debilitating symptoms.

Logan Basic Technique

The Logan Basic Technique focuses on relieving accumulated muscle tension at the base of the spine -- tension that can pull multiple parts of the musculoskeletal system out of their normal positions, causing pain and other health problems. The chiropractor applies leverage to the sacrum, the part of the spine attached to the pelvis, to release this tension and whatever symptoms it may be creating.

Webster Technique

You may already know that pregnant women can safely undergo gentle chiropractic adjustments to ease their prenatal discomfort. However, a specific chiropractic method called the Webster Technique can actually make their delivery safer and easier. In this technique, typically administered during the final trimester, the chiropractor gently adjusts the pelvic bones to ensure that they provide enough room for the fetus to turn upside down for delivery. This form of chiropractic care can reduce the risk of a breech birth for mother and baby alike.

Specific Prone Technique

The Specific Prone Technique (also referred to by some chiropractors as the Prone-Specific Technique) offers a comfortable, gentle, effective chiropractic experience. As you lie face down on a treatment table, the chiropractor adjusts only the specific point along the spinal column in need of correction instead of making adjustments throughout the spine. Because this technique permits a uniquely gentle hands-on approach, it can prove ideal for patients of all ages, from babies whose joints were pushed out of alignment at birth to senior citizens suffering from chronic pain conditions. But anyone who wants the most comfortable spinal adjustments possible may naturally prefer this technique.
